The problem

A monitoring device that drops offline can delay an alert that matters. Patients carry devices between home, work and hospital, often with no Wi-Fi configured, so cellular is the default path. Device makers need a SIM that connects without patient setup, keeps health data off the public internet, satisfies the privacy team, and costs little enough per unit to be built into the device price.

IoT connectivity

Small SIM. Bigger possibilities.

Published pricing, no minimums, a platform and an API from the first SIM.

How to deploy SIM for medical devicess in 4 steps

01

Test with the trial kit

5 SIMs with 100MB each, 30 days, shipped in 3 to 7 working days. Fit them in your continuous glucose monitor transmitters and check attach, signal and steering at real sites.

02

Order from 1 SIM

No minimum on IoT Go at US$1.00 per active SIM plus US$0.004 per MB. Choose 2FF, 3FF, 4FF or MFF2. API keys are issued instantly.

03

Configure for the use case

Private APN and IPsec VPN so device traffic terminates inside your network. GDPR-compliant processing, DPA on request, ISO 27001 certification on our roadmap. Register a webhook so alerts reach your own platform.

04

Scale on published rates

At 1,000 active SIMs the rate drops automatically to US$0.6 and US$0.0025. Above 10,000, IoT Enterprise adds an SLA and a dedicated manager.

Security and compliance

These are commitments and a roadmap, stated plainly. We do not list certifications we do not yet hold.

Security and compliance commitments

Multi-network SIMs, a platform to watch every device, and an API to automate the rest.

Healthcare devices: questions engineers and procurement ask

Is patient data visible to Universal eSIMs?

No. We see signalling metadata: ICCID, IMSI, network, timestamps and bytes transferred. Payload data is encrypted by your device and, on a private APN with IPsec, never touches the public internet. We process metadata under GDPR-compliant terms and sign a data processing agreement on request.

What do 150 monitoring devices cost per month?

On IoT Go, 150 devices at 50MB each cost 150 × US$1.00 + 7,500MB × US$0.004 = US$180 a month, or US$1.20 per device. Private APN and VPN are on IoT Scale from 1,000 SIMs; below that we route devices through standard APNs with TLS from the device.

What uptime do you commit to?

Our platform availability target is 99.9% per month and we publish status at status.universalesims.com from launch. Network availability depends on the carrier partners; multi-IMSI steering means a single network outage does not take your devices offline. A written SLA is included on IoT Enterprise.

Can a wearable travel with the patient abroad?

Yes. The same SIM connects in 180+ countries through our carrier partners with no change by the patient. Per-MB pricing is the same pooled rate in every covered country, so a patient holidaying in Spain costs the same as one at home.

Do you support HIPAA or ISO 13485 requirements?

We are not a HIPAA covered entity or business associate by default because we do not handle protected health information, only connectivity metadata. We will sign a business associate agreement for private APN deployments where required. ISO 27001 certification is on our roadmap; ISO 13485 applies to the device maker, not the connectivity provider.

How quickly does a replacement SIM activate?

Activation through the console or API applies within 60 seconds. Spare SIMs can be shipped to clinics in advance and stay inactive and free until first use. With eUICC devices, we can also push a replacement profile over the air.

How does the free trial kit work?

Request it with a company address and use case. We verify the address, then ship 5 SIMs with 100MB each, valid 30 days, from India and the EU in 3 to 7 working days. You get console and API access on the day you request it, so you can start in the sandbox before the SIMs arrive.

Is there a minimum order or contract?

No. Order 1 SIM online on IoT Go at US$1.00 per active SIM per month with no contract. IoT Scale from 1,000 SIMs has an optional 12-month term that takes a further 10% off the SIM fee. IoT Enterprise above 10,000 SIMs is negotiated.

How quickly can I get API access?

Immediately. API keys are issued when you create an account. The REST API uses JSON, we publish a Postman collection, and there are snippets in Python, Node.js and cURL. A sandbox with simulated SIMs lets you test activation, usage and webhooks without hardware.
