WhatsApp on a travel eSIM: does your number change?
No. WhatsApp stays on your Indian number and uses the eSIM for data. What happens with verification, calls, business accounts and the UAE restriction.

WhatsApp does not change number when you use a travel eSIM. It stays verified on your Indian number and simply uses the Universal eSIM as the data connection, so chats, calls and video work as before at no extra cost. Keep the Indian SIM in the phone for any re-verification SMS.

How WhatsApp picks a connection
WhatsApp uses whichever data path the phone offers: Wi-Fi first, then the mobile data line. It never looks at which SIM the number belongs to after verification. Set the travel eSIM as the data line and WhatsApp runs over it on your existing number.
When WhatsApp asks to re-verify
Re-verification happens after a reinstall, a new phone, or a long period offline. The code arrives by SMS or call on the Indian number, so keep that SIM in the phone and switched on with data roaming off. Incoming SMS is free on most Indian operators abroad.
WhatsApp Business and two accounts
Business accounts behave the same. If you run two WhatsApp accounts on two numbers, both keep working over the eSIM data; the travel eSIM itself has no usable number for a third account.

Countries with restrictions
The UAE restricts VoIP calls on local networks; messaging works everywhere. Our UAE eSIM routes data internationally, which usually allows calls, but we cannot guarantee it for every app or day. Saudi Arabia permits WhatsApp calls. China is not covered by our plans.

No. Your profile and number are unchanged.
Can I verify WhatsApp on the eSIM number?
No. Travel eSIMs are data-only and cannot receive the verification SMS.
Do WhatsApp calls cost extra on the eSIM?
No. They use plan data, about 1MB a minute for voice.
Does WhatsApp work in Dubai on your eSIM?
Messaging always. Calls usually work on our international routing but are not guaranteed because UAE regulations restrict VoIP on local networks.
What if I remove my Indian SIM?
WhatsApp keeps working until it next needs to verify. Keep the SIM in to be safe.
Can I use WhatsApp on a laptop via hotspot?
Yes. WhatsApp Web runs over the hotspot, which is allowed on every plan.
