IoT eSIM and eUICC: remote SIM provisioning for devices with 10-year lives
MFF2 embedded eUICC with a global bootstrap profile, local operator profiles pushed over the air under GSMA SGP.02 and SGP.32, and the same published pricing as every other Universal eSIMs IoT SIM.
IoT eUICC at a glance
Universal eSIMs supplies IoT eSIMs as MFF2 embedded eUICC chips with a global bootstrap profile that attaches on 600+ networks in 180+ countries, and pushes local operator profiles over the air under GSMA SGP.02 and SGP.32 through our profile partners. Connectivity costs US$1.00 per active SIM per month plus US$0.004 per MB pooled on IoT Go.

What you get
One SKU for every market
Fit the same MFF2 chip at the factory for every destination. The bootstrap profile works on first power-up; local profiles follow where rules require them.
No truck rolls
Operator shutdowns, price changes and new roaming rules are handled by a profile download, not a field visit. Essential for meters, chargers and city infrastructure.
Same platform, same prices
eUICC SIMs appear in the platform and API like any other SIM. Pricing is on the pricing page; profile management is included.
eUICC pricing
Connectivity pricing for eUICC and plastic SIMs
MFF2 hardware is a one-off unit price quoted per volume. Local profile downloads for listed countries are included. Bespoke operator profiles are quoted per project. Enterprise accounts above 10,000 SIMs get eUICC profile management with an SLA.
How remote SIM provisioning works in 4 steps
Choose the module and standard
Confirm whether your cellular module supports GSMA SGP.32 (IoT) or SGP.02 (M2M). We supply MFF2 eUICC chips for either, with a global bootstrap profile loaded.
Fit the eUICC at the factory
MFF2 chips ship in tape-and-reel for pick-and-place. Samples are in the trial kit. The bootstrap profile attaches in 180+ countries on first power-up.
Activate and detect the country
Your backend activates the SIM through the API. The sim.attached webhook tells you the country and network so you can decide whether a local profile is needed.
Download a local profile over the air
Where permanent roaming rules apply, we push a local operator profile under SGP.32 or SGP.02 through our profile partners. The device switches without a site visit, and the bootstrap profile remains as fallback.

IoT eSIM and eUICC questions
What is the difference between eSIM, eUICC and MFF2?
MFF2 is the physical form factor, a solderable 6mm by 5mm chip. eUICC is the chip capability to hold several operator profiles and change them remotely. eSIM is the common name for both. You can have MFF2 without eUICC (one fixed profile) and eUICC in a plastic 4FF card.
SGP.02 or SGP.32: which should a new device use?
SGP.32 (IoT) for new designs. It removes the need for SMS-based profile triggering and works with constrained NB-IoT and LTE-M devices through an IoT Profile Assistant. SGP.02 (M2M) remains fully supported for existing module platforms. Consumer SGP.22 is for phones and tablets and is served by our travel eSIM line.
How much does an eUICC cost compared with a plastic SIM?
The monthly connectivity price is the same: US$1.00 per active SIM plus US$0.004 per MB on IoT Go. MFF2 eUICC hardware carries a one-off unit price quoted per order volume, and local profile downloads are included for countries we list; bespoke operator profiles are quoted per project.
Can I switch a device from your bootstrap profile to a local operator and back?
Yes. The eUICC holds several profiles. We enable the local profile where rules require it and keep the bootstrap profile as fallback. Switching back is a console or API action and takes effect on the next attach.
Do I need eUICC for devices that stay in one country?
If that country restricts permanent roaming, yes, or fit a local plastic SIM at install time. For India, our standard SIM already includes an Indian local profile. For devices with a 10-year life we recommend eUICC regardless, because operator networks and rules change over a decade.
Which profile partners do you work with?
We provision local profiles through licensed operator partners in each country under GSMA-certified SM-DP+ and SM-SR platforms. We name partners per project under NDA. Lead time for a new country profile is typically 2 to 6 weeks.
How does the free trial kit work?
Request it with a company address and use case. We verify the address, then ship 5 SIMs with 100MB each, valid 30 days, from India and the EU in 3 to 7 working days. You get console and API access on the day you request it, so you can start in the sandbox before the SIMs arrive.
What does an inactive SIM cost?
Nothing. A SIM is inactive until its first data session and whenever you suspend it. You can hold 5,000 SIMs in stock and pay only for the 300 that are live this month.
How quickly can I get API access?
Immediately. API keys are issued when you create an account. The REST API uses JSON, we publish a Postman collection, and there are snippets in Python, Node.js and cURL. A sandbox with simulated SIMs lets you test activation, usage and webhooks without hardware.
