What the checker tells you
The Universal eSIMs compatibility checker covers 82 phone models from 11 brands and returns a yes, some-variants or no verdict with notes on Indian and carrier units. Confirm the result by dialling *#06#: an EID line means the hardware supports eSIM. Then check the phone is carrier-unlocked.

Every phone with eSIM hardware has an EID, a 32-digit embedded identity document number. Open the phone app, dial *#06# and a box appears listing the IMEI numbers. If an EID line appears below them, the hardware supports eSIM. If the box shows IMEI numbers only, the phone has no eSIM and you should order a physical travel SIM instead.
On iPhone you can also look in Settings, General, About and scroll to EID. On Samsung the same screen is Settings, About phone, Status information. The EID test is the one that matters; model lists, including ours, cannot capture every regional variant.
Carrier lock: the second thing to check
An eSIM-capable phone can still refuse a travel eSIM if it is locked to the carrier that sold it. Locks are common on phones bought on instalment plans in the USA, Canada, Japan and parts of Europe. Phones bought outright in India are sold unlocked.
- iPhone: Settings, General, About, Carrier Lock. It should read "No SIM restrictions".
- Samsung: Settings, Connections, SIM manager. A locked phone shows a message about the network when you add a second line, or refuses to download the profile.
- Pixel: Settings, Network and internet, SIMs. Locked units show "SIM locked by carrier" after a download attempt.
If your phone is locked, ask the carrier for an unlock; most are obliged to grant it once the contract is paid off. We refund any plan that cannot be installed on a locked phone under the refund policy.

Frequently asked questions
The checker says yes but my phone shows no EID. Which is right?
Your phone. Model lists describe the global unit; carrier and regional builds can remove eSIM. If *#06# shows no EID, the phone cannot install an eSIM. Order a physical travel SIM.
What does "some variants" mean?
The model has eSIM in some countries or on some carriers but not others. The Indian unit is the usual exception. Dial *#06# to confirm your own unit.
My phone is carrier-locked. Will the eSIM install?
Usually the download fails or the line shows "SIM not supported". Ask your carrier to unlock the phone first. If an install fails on a locked phone we refund the plan.
Does the checker store my data?
No. It runs in your browser, sends nothing to our servers and does not ask for an email address.
Can I check a phone I have not bought yet?
Yes. Pick the model and read the notes. If you are buying for travel, prefer a model marked Yes, and buy the Indian retail unit rather than an import whose variant you cannot verify.
What if my model is missing?
Run the *#06# test. If an EID is listed and the phone is unlocked, every Universal eSIMs plan will install. Email the model name to hello@universalesims.com and we will add it.
