How coverage works

Several IMSIs, one SIM

Each IMSI belongs to a sponsor operator with its own roaming agreements. Together they reach more networks than any single operator, and the SIM picks the IMSI with the best footprint in each country.

Automatic steering

On attach, the SIM tries the preferred network for that country. On rejection or weak signal it tries the next within about 60 seconds. You can pin a preferred network per country.

Local profiles where rules require

Where a regulator restricts permanent roaming, we load a local operator profile over the air on eUICC SIMs or ship it pre-loaded. India is included on every SIM.

Permanent roaming rules by country

As understood in October 2026. Regulations and operator enforcement change; confirm with us before you deploy fixed devices in any country marked conditional or restricted.

Permanent roaming rules for IoT SIMs, as understood in October 2026, confirm with us

Country Rule summary Permanent roaming Our approach 🇮🇳 India Foreign SIMs are restricted from permanent roaming beyond 90 days and M2M devices are expected to use locally registered SIMs with KYC. Conditional Indian local profile on our multi-IMSI SIM with KYC handled by us. Recommended from day one for fixed devices. 🇧🇷 Brazil Anatel restricts permanent roaming of foreign SIMs; devices that stay need a locally licensed profile. Restricted Local Brazilian profile loaded over the air via eUICC or shipped pre-provisioned. 🇹🇷 Turkey Devices on foreign SIMs are blocked after roughly 120 days unless the IMEI is registered; permanent roaming is not supported commercially. Restricted Local Turkish profile and IMEI registration support through our partner. 🇨🇳 China Permanent roaming on foreign SIMs is not permitted in practice; data must terminate through a licensed Chinese operator. Restricted Local mainland profile from a licensed partner, with a separate data path. Lead time 2 to 4 weeks. 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia CST rules restrict permanent roaming; M2M SIMs that remain in the Kingdom need a local operator profile. Restricted Local Saudi profile with customer KYC. Roaming profile used for the first 90 days only. 🇦🇪 United Arab Emirates TDRA restricts permanent roaming of foreign SIMs; locally fitted devices are expected on a UAE operator. Restricted Local UAE profile. We advise against roaming-only deployments for fixed devices. 🇪🇬 Egypt NTRA restricts permanent roaming and requires device registration for long-stay equipment. Restricted Local Egyptian profile via partner; registration documents prepared with you. 🇳🇬 Nigeria NCC restricts permanent roaming; SIM registration with NIN is mandatory for local SIMs. Restricted Local Nigerian profile with registration handled by our partner. 🇮🇩 Indonesia IMEI registration is required for devices that stay; roaming SIMs are tolerated for short periods only. Conditional Local profile plus IMEI registration for deployments above 90 days. 🇺🇸 United States No regulatory ban on permanent roaming; individual carriers can restrict high-volume roaming commercially. Generally permitted Multi-IMSI roaming on two national networks, with a US IMSI available for large fleets. 🇪🇺 European Union Permanent roaming is generally tolerated for M2M, with fair-use and national numbering rules that vary by member state. Generally permitted EU IMSI with roaming across all 27 member states; local profiles for Germany and France on request. 🇦🇺 Australia No permanent roaming ban; 3G networks are closed, so devices need 4G, LTE-M or NB-IoT. Generally permitted Roaming profile on two national networks; LTE-M and NB-IoT confirmed per network.

How to request a specific country list

01

Send us your country list

Email or use the contact form with the countries, device type, radio technology (4G, LTE-M, NB-IoT) and whether devices are fixed or mobile.

02

We return a network-by-network sheet

Within 2 working days you receive a CSV: country, partner networks, technologies confirmed, permanent roaming position and whether a local profile is recommended.

03

Test with the trial kit

5 SIMs with 100MB each let you confirm attach, signal class and throughput at real sites before you commit.

04

Pin preferences per country

In the console, set a preferred network per country if you want to override automatic steering, and enable geo-fence alerts for countries outside your plan.

Coverage and roaming questions

How many networks and countries does the IoT SIM cover?

600+ networks in 180+ countries through our carrier partners, as a target at launch. The live list is in the coverage API at GET /v1/coverage, which needs no key and is updated when partner agreements change.

What is permanent roaming and why does it matter?

Permanent roaming is a SIM from one country living indefinitely on networks in another. Several regulators restrict it, and some operators block foreign SIMs after 90 to 120 days. A fixed device on a roaming-only SIM in a restricted country can go dark. Our table above shows the position as understood in October 2026; confirm with us before deploying.

Do you have a local profile for India?

Yes. Every Universal eSIMs IoT SIM includes an Indian local profile with KYC handled by us, because India restricts foreign SIMs beyond 90 days. Devices installed in India are compliant from the first attach.

How do I get coverage for China?

Through a licensed mainland partner profile with a separate data path, provisioned over the air on eUICC devices or shipped pre-loaded. Lead time is 2 to 4 weeks and there are additional registration steps. Roaming-only connectivity in China is not a sustainable option for fixed devices.

Is the per-MB price different by country?

No. US$0.004 per MB on IoT Go and US$0.0025 on IoT Scale in every covered country, pooled across the account. A handful of satellite-only and sanctioned territories are excluded and listed in the coverage API.

Which countries have LTE-M and NB-IoT?

LTE-M is broadly available across North America, Europe, Japan, Australia and increasingly India, Latin America and Southeast Asia. NB-IoT is available in most of Europe, India, China, Australia and parts of the Americas, but roaming agreements for NB-IoT are fewer. We confirm per network before you ship.

What if a partner network has an outage?

The multi-IMSI SIM re-attaches to another partner network in the same country, typically within a minute. In countries with a single partner network, devices wait for the network to return. The coverage sheet tells you how many partner networks each country has.

Can I restrict SIMs to specific countries?

Yes. Geo-fencing lets you allow-list countries per group and alert or auto-suspend when a SIM attaches elsewhere. Useful for theft detection and for keeping devices out of countries where you have no compliance position.

How does the free trial kit work?

Request it with a company address and use case. We verify the address, then ship 5 SIMs with 100MB each, valid 30 days, from India and the EU in 3 to 7 working days. You get console and API access on the day you request it, so you can start in the sandbox before the SIMs arrive.
