SIM cards for EV chargers: OCPP connectivity from US$1.00 a month
Reliable 4G connectivity for AC and DC chargers running OCPP 1.6J or 2.0.1, with private APN, static IP and local profiles for the countries where chargers stay put.
EV charging connectivity at a glance
Universal eSIMs supplies SIM card for EV chargerss on 600+ networks in 180+ countries for US$1.00 per active SIM per month plus US$0.004 per MB pooled on IoT Go, or US$0.60 and US$0.0025 on IoT Scale from 1,000 SIMs. 200 chargers at 150MB each on IoT Go cost US$320 a month, US$1.600 per device, with inactive SIMs free.

The problem
A charger that loses its back-end connection cannot authorise a session, cannot report energy and cannot take payment. Chargers sit in basements, car parks and roadside cabinets with poor signal, and they never move, which means permanent roaming rules apply in many countries. Charge point operators need signal where the charger is, a secure path to the CSMS, and a price per charger they can put in the business case.

Get startedHow to deploy SIM card for EV chargerss in 4 steps
Test with the trial kit
5 SIMs with 100MB each, 30 days, shipped in 3 to 7 working days. Fit them in your ac wallboxes (7kw to 22kw) and check attach, signal and steering at real sites.
Order from 1 SIM
No minimum on IoT Go at US$1.00 per active SIM plus US$0.004 per MB. Choose 2FF, 3FF, 4FF or MFF2. API keys are issued instantly.
Configure for the use case
Multi-IMSI picks the strongest of several networks at each site. Private APN with long NAT timeouts and static IP for stable sessions. Register a webhook so alerts reach your own platform.
Scale on published rates
At 1,000 active SIMs the rate drops automatically to US$0.6 and US$0.0025. Above 10,000, IoT Enterprise adds an SLA and a dedicated manager.

EV charging: questions engineers and procurement ask
How much data does an OCPP charger use?
An OCPP 1.6J charger sending a heartbeat every 60 seconds and meter values every 30 seconds during charging uses 50MB to 150MB a month. OCPP 2.0.1 with device-model reporting uses up to 300MB. Firmware updates add 20MB to 100MB each. Pooled data means a quiet charger subsidises a busy one.
What do 200 chargers cost per month?
On IoT Go, 200 chargers at 150MB each cost 200 × US$1.00 + 30,000MB × US$0.004 = US$320 a month, or US$1.60 per charger. Chargers not yet commissioned stay inactive at no charge until the first data session.
Can I get a static IP so my CSMS can reach the charger?
Yes, on IoT Scale and above. Private APN and static IP give every charger a fixed private address reachable only over your IPsec VPN. Setup is from US$250 one-off and there is no per-SIM surcharge. On IoT Go, chargers initiate outbound WebSocket connections, which OCPP supports.
Do I need a local SIM for chargers in India or the Gulf?
For fixed chargers, yes. India restricts foreign SIMs beyond 90 days and the UAE and Saudi Arabia restrict permanent roaming. Our multi-IMSI SIM carries a local profile for India at launch and we provision Gulf local profiles over the air through partners. See the roaming rules table on the coverage page.
What happens when a charger loses signal?
The charger follows its OCPP offline behaviour, usually caching transactions locally. Our SIM re-attaches to the best available network automatically, typically within 60 seconds of signal returning. Diagnostics show signal class per charger so you can fit an external antenna where it is needed.
Can one account serve chargers in several countries?
Yes. One account, one pooled data balance, one invoice in USD or INR, with usage broken down per country in the console and the API. Geo-fencing alerts you if a charger SIM appears outside its installed country, which usually means theft.
How does the free trial kit work?
Request it with a company address and use case. We verify the address, then ship 5 SIMs with 100MB each, valid 30 days, from India and the EU in 3 to 7 working days. You get console and API access on the day you request it, so you can start in the sandbox before the SIMs arrive.
Is there a minimum order or contract?
No. Order 1 SIM online on IoT Go at US$1.00 per active SIM per month with no contract. IoT Scale from 1,000 SIMs has an optional 12-month term that takes a further 10% off the SIM fee. IoT Enterprise above 10,000 SIMs is negotiated.
How quickly can I get API access?
Immediately. API keys are issued when you create an account. The REST API uses JSON, we publish a Postman collection, and there are snippets in Python, Node.js and cURL. A sandbox with simulated SIMs lets you test activation, usage and webhooks without hardware.
